Kyle and Rachel shared a magical moment during a Greek event at Necto Night Club their freshman year in college. Rachel was innocently dancing with her friend, Meg, when an unfamiliar male approached Rachel to see if she would dance with his buddy, Kyle. Rachel hesitantly said yes, and Rachel and Kyle started dancing. Rachel could not tell what Kyle looked like, so while they were dancing, Rachel motioned to Meg, thumbs up? Or thumbs down? Meg observed Kyle, and gave a measly somewhere in the middle hand motion. Kyle must have been a great dancer for Rachel to have ignored Meg’s “eeeeh” response! “They” say that you don’t find relationships at bars, yet here they are, 8 years later, and Rachel and Kyle have continued to have a loving, fun-filled, devoted relationship.
Sophomore year and Rachel and Kyle are still going strong as they are celebrating their first Valentine’s Day! Rachel lived in D Phi E and Kyle lived in Pi Kappa Phi. Rachel and Kyle attended many Greek events together, cheered on their Michigan team, and of course studied.
Rachel and Kyle were (and currently are) enthusiastic about everything Michigan celebrates as a campus. Halloween was always very fun, and they typically dressed up in crazy costumes together and celebrated with friends.
They graduated! Rachel then went on to obtain her Master’s in Social Work and is currently a school social worker. Kyle went on to complete two Master’s, one in Nuclear Engineering and one in Electrical Engineering. Kyle is currently finishing his PhD in Nuclear Engineering. Rachel and Kyle will collectively have 6 University of Michigan degrees… wowzers!
Go Blue! Rachel and Kyle are big Michigan fans...even when their team isn’t doing so well. Fall has always been a busy time as they attend Michigan Football games on Saturdays and cheer on the even less successful Detroit Lions on Sundays! Maybe some day one of their favorite football teams will get their sh*t together.
Rachel and Kyle love to golf, and they love to golf together. They have favorite courses all over Michigan that they frequent together. Of course, there is always “friendly” competition between Kyle and Rachel. Isn’t there a saying that goes, “a couple that golf’s together stays together”?
Traveling and exploring Michigan is another passion of Kyle and Rachel. They have been all over Michigan and love living so close to the Great Lakes. Rachel and Kyle love to spend time at the Polack Cottage by Higgins Lake where the two would eventually get engaged.
This was the best year yet… Rachel and Kyle adopted Mr. Gonzo and became a framily! Anyone who knows Rachel and Kyle will admit that Mr. G is the center of their lives, and Gonzo prefers it that way. Also in 2014…
2007 was the year Rachel and Kyle met! This picture was taken at the Pi Kappa Phi formal, Rose Ball. Rachel also really enjoyed spending time with guys in Pi Kapps. Rachel and Kyle went to formals, tailgates, date parties, charity events, and all sorts of festivities as undergraduate students. Many of their best friends today are Pi Kapps Alumni!
